Great Salt Lake Management Plan

The issue:  The Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands (FFSL) is charged to sustainably manage the Great Salt Lake for multiple use. Currently, the 2000 Great Salt Lake Comprehensive Management Plan (CMP) and the 1996 Great Salt Lake Mineral Leasing Plan (MLP) are the governing documents for the Great Salt Lake. The Division is working with multiple agencies to review and/or revise the CMP.

Concerns: Future use and management of the Great Salt Lake.

Latest News: The comment period for the Final Draft Great Salt Lake CMP and MLP ended 5/31/2012.  Great Salt Lake Audubon submitted comments, as did many other local environmental organizations.  You can read Great Salt Lake Audubon's comments by going to this link:. comments

FFSL will take these comments into consideration as it continues to develop the plan. We await FFSL's revised plan and will again review it and submit comments during the time period allowed.  FFSL will then release its final plan.
