Southern Nevada Water Issues
The issue: In 2004 the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) submitted a proposal to obtain rights-of-way across BLM land in Utah and Nevada in order to convey water resources to communities in southern Nevada. The project includes the development of approximately 306 miles of underground pipelines, water treatment facilities, pumping stations, electrical substations, and power lines. Resources that will be impacted include water and wildlife habitat.

Concerns: water rights, aquatic habitat, wildlife habitat

Latest News: On October 11, 2011, Great Salt Lake Audubon submitted comments on the draft Environmental Impact Statement and also supported comments submitted by FRIENDS of Great Salt Lake.
