Great Salt Lake Nature Center
Has a macroinvertebrate ever tickled your fancy? Do you know which halophyte tastes like a pickle? Can you tell the differences between a Cinnamon Teal, a Great Blue Heron and a Yellow-headed Blackbird? If you answered YES to any of these questions then you have already met the most basic criteria for becoming a Volunteer Naturalist at the Great Salt Lake Nature Center at Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area. If you don't know the answers to the above questions, it is really fun to learn about the animals, plants and environment of the wetlands of the Great Salt Lake and then share your knowledge with students of all ages. The Spring Fieldtrip Season is coming up fast and we need people who are passionate about sharing in the wonders of Utah's natural environment to help run fun daytime fieldtrips, workshops and nature tours at our unique site. Training sessions for new volunteers will be offered March 9th and 10th, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Great Salt Lake Nature Center, 1700 W. Glover Lane, Farmington, Utah. If you are interested in this enjoyable and interesting opportunity, please contact Justina Parsons-Bernstein at (801) 589-2373 or jparsonsbernstein@utah.gov.
